About Us

JPYSA working Board has history and the necessary experience to document and present an accurate account of Blacks and other peoples of color throughout the Bay Area and currently maintains the following three on-going projects serving Silicon Valley:

• The initial thrust of JPYSA was to provide services and assist other agencies and organizations with providing services specifically for at-risk youth through our Aquarius Project (link to video), which has received grants and acknowledgement for being one of the BEST youth programs in Santa Clara County and remains a member of the Mayors Gang Prevention Task Force.

• The Black Legends Award which singles out outstanding contributors of color in the community for recognition at our awards ceremony and dinner. This is an annual fundraising event for our organization and we are entering our sixth year.

• The newest initiative is to secure space and begin construction of what will become (long range) a worldwide Black History Museum with a physical location in San Jose. As an introduction to this project, we intend to immediately launch an online virtual Black History Museum, which will also include pioneers of the San Jose/Silicon Valley area.
